Fexofenadine Drug Interactions
Fexofenadine drug may interact with some types of drugs or food
when taken together.
- Antacids: Do not take at the same time as aluminum and magnesium
containing antacids
- Erythromycin and Ketoconazole: Fexofenadine has been shown to
exhibit minimal metabolism. Studies indicate that ketoconazole
or erythromycin coadministration enhances fexofenadine gastrointestinal
absorption. Fexofenadine had no effect on the pharmacokinetics
of either erythromycin or ketoconazole.
- Fruit juice: Fruit juices such as grapefruit, orange and apple
may reduce the bioavailability and exposure of fexofenadine. It
is adviced to take fexofenadine with water, not with fruit juice.
